🚗 Big EV News: Get up to £3,750 Off a New Electric Car Thanks to New UK Grant!

Published: July 15, 2025 | By Simon at 4front Driving School

Great news for anyone thinking of switching to an electric vehicle—the UK government has just launched a new grant of up to £3,750 off the price of a brand-new electric car! This initiative aims to make EVs more affordable and accelerate the move toward greener roads.

💷 What’s the Deal?

The new scheme offers the following:

Up to £3,750 off eligible new electric vehicles (EVs) under £37,000.

The discount amount depends on how sustainably the car is manufactured.

The cleanest and most sustainably produced models qualify for the full £3,750.

Others still benefit with £1,500 off.

The grant applies at the point of sale and launches from 16 July 2025.

It will be available through dealerships until at least 2028–29.

🔍 Why This Matters for Learners & New Drivers

As a driving instructor who teaches in a fully electric car, I think this is a fantastic step forward.

It makes EVs more affordable for learners and first-time buyers.

EVs are cheaper to run—you could save around £1,500 a year on fuel and maintenance.

You’re helping reduce noise and pollution on the roads.

It supports the UK’s move to phase out petrol/diesel cars by 2035.

🚘 What Cars Qualify?

To get the grant:

The car must be new and cost less than £37,000.

It must meet sustainability criteria (set by the government).

Most Chinese-built models and Tesla are excluded, due to environmental impact in manufacturing.

Brands likely to be included: MG, Nissan, Renault, Hyundai, Vauxhall, and more.

Participating dealers will list eligible models soon. Keep an eye out!
